Literature Text
A listing of groups here on DA devoted to literature(including fan fiction), divided by poetry and prose.
EDIT: groups devoted to song lyrics also now listed.
I aim to help groups by giving them some publicity and also to help writers find groups that can help them spread their work about; if you know of any group not on the list, please tell me. And if you are a member of any group listed here and you want me to include something about it, like 'we have regular writing contests' then just say so and I'll include them.
I am a flawed being, so it is entirely possible that I have made a mistake with any one group's listing; if you notice that I have, please tell me.
I will be updating this, so check back often!

What does it mean to have a "weak" character?
When I say weak, I'm not talking about the character's physical or mental capability, or their ability to influence the story. Rather, it has to do with the character's ability to influence the audience.
The audience should be able to connect on some level with the character; how that is done will depend on your t

The Problems With Stories Written by Teenagers
Don't be offended at the title. "Teenagers" is just my way of saying "people who write unprofessional/shallow stories." Not all teenagers write shallow stories, it just sounds catchier.... Anyway.
The first thing I want to make clear is: I'm not talking about anything mechanical in this deviation. Grammar/spelling is important (obviously), but that point has been beaten to death by people on the internet already. My purpose, as always, is to talk about the stories themselves, regardless of the way they are communicated. Whether it be through written word or on-the-spot narration, I believe there are certain tricks to telling good stories. No

Writer's Workshop: Fleshing out Characters
December 14th, 2011.
Fleshing Out Your Characters.
Some people are good at writing people. They have no difficulties conceiving of them and don't balk at doing the legwork involved in writing interesting, well-developed characters. They know what is believable and what isn't, and have some idea of how readers may react to their cast.
Other people seem to have no idea what makes people tick, what makes characters interesting, and hope that piling on enough abilities or cool traits is a workable substitute for character development.
As you might have expected, this ramble is dedicated to not being the latter. Here are some tips and tricks f
