Hello, I'm Jochannon; I've been publishing online on-and-off for about four years; I'm strictly amateur, but if you want to publish your work professionally then tell me: I can help.

IF you are below the age of eighteen, I urge you to have a parent or guardian read this with you.

WHAT I'M DOING

Every week I publish original stories, poetry, and art, and email them to my subscribers.

I also publish comics, manga, cartoons and visual stories of all sorts: fanaticalpublishing.deviantart…

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

I will take literature and art from any genre, except fan fiction.

No limit on the length of poetry or stories, but this is a MAGAZINE; if you want to publish a novel, it better be as a serial.

No limit on the dimensions of art, but the format of the magazine means that pictures that are tall and narrow will be displayed better.

RIGHTS

The rights of a work have nothing to do with me: basically, all I do is show them around, the rights to them remain with whoever has them.

GUIDELINES

Sex: it's normal, it's natural, having sex in work will not disqualify it, but I will not publish pornography.

Considering the previous paragraph, artwork touching on rape or pedophilia must handle the subject carefully.

I reserve the right to not publish any artwork that I don't like.

I will not edit your stories, but publish them exactly the way you submit them. By the same token I will not fix typos.

Re-publishing: If a piece is already published, on DA or Fanfiction.com or elsewhere, that's fine; as long as you own it, you can submit it.

SUBMITTING YOUR WORK

I have a very strict rule that I only publish works that have been SUBMITTED to me; I will not go into your gallery and pick out works to publish, except in VERY RARE exceptions. If you want me to do that, then tell me.

To submit your work, send it to me via email at fanaticalmagazine@yahoo.com . In the subject line type: Prose, Poetry, or art(whichever is appropriate)/ TITLE/ Creator's Name

In the body of the email you may add a cover letter with whatever message you wish to convey, such as a writer's/artist's bio and story synopsis: I will add it to the magazine if I take your story. In the cover letter you can add links to your work elsewhere, which is great for you self-publishers: free publicity.

The story, poem, or picture you can link to, or put in the body of the email, or attach it to the email as an attachment.

Include in the email a statement that you have read this document and agree to it, please.

If you have a lot of pieces to submit, or email is a problem for you, you can submit them to my group folder here: publishing-group.deviantart.co…

If you do that, I will copy your story or art into the magazine with your username and a link to your profile here

SCHEDULE

At present I am publishing once per week on Sunday: sometimes it's late and sometimes early.

QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

I'd love to hear your questions and comments: comment here, or e-mail me at fanaticalmagazine@yahoo.com.

FAQs

Q: How do I know you're a real publisher?

A: Epantiras jd896 and RyanTaylorGirl have all worked with me before, and have graciously agreed to serve as references; you can check out copies of my work on my profile page, and my work has been mentioned and shown on the website of a professional publisher: hellnotes.com/fanatical-publis…

Q: Can I do anything to help?

A: Contribute, subscribe, and tell people about this, that would be a great help.

Q: What do I get out of it?

A: Free stories and poetry in your mailbox every week. Subscribers can also submit their stories to be published.

Q: What do you get out of it?

A: Fun, ego boost and I'm a writer myself, so I use this to get free publicity just like any other self-publisher.

Q: What do you publish?

A: Original literature(fiction and non-fiction) and poems from all genres.

Q: So what are you looking for? People to submit art, or people to join your mailing list?

A: Both, really. I am trying to get people to subscribe to my mailing list, all subscribers can submit art of theirs to be published.

Q: What about other kinds of art?

A: I am willing to publish other kinds of art; if you want to publish another kind of art, then write to me saying so, and we'll work something out.

Q: I don't write English well; can I publish a story in my mother language?

A: For the moment at least, I work in English. Once I've become more established, I hope to branch out.

Q: How can I be sure my art won't be stolen?

A: I'm afraid one can never be entirely sure; not very long ago, a friend of mine had her art stolen here on dA. But everything I publish is protected by the Jochannon Art No-Theft Guarantee: jochannon.deviantart.com/journ…

This sounds like a great idea, tbh. :D

So I have a question... You've contradicted yourself, probably not on purpose, but I felt the need to ask for clarification. ^^;

You said:
"I will take literature and art from any genre, except fan fiction."
But then in the FAQ, it says
"
Q: What do you publish?
A: Original literature(fiction and non-fiction), fan fiction, and poems from all genres."

So my question is... Do you take fan fiction or not? (Just curious, as I mostly write erotica which would mean you wouldn't take it anyway, but I have friends who write for other genres who may be interested...) Aside from that, I mostly write poetry, so maybe you might be interested in that. But is it still acceptable even if the poem has already been submitted here on DA?

Also, I'm not sure about something else... How do we go about submitting our work to (possibly) be published? Do we email it to you, or is it done through DA, or how does that work? How long does the whole process usually take? And you always link back to our page so people can find the author and credit us and everything, right?

Can I also ask how many subscribers your magazine has? (For instance, I wouldn't want to waste my time with something that only has 10 subscribers, vs something that has hundreds or etc.)

Thanks for your time. (And sorry for asking so many questions at once.)
